Praia do Castelo

If you're already there.

The hang

A small, cliff-wrapped beach at the quiet end of Albufeira's western sprawl, named for a rock formation that looks like a castle (if you're feeling generous). Good sand, clear water, a wooden boardwalk that keeps the dunes intact, and a beach bar that's genuinely decent. The kind of beach that won't make a top-10 list but will make the day you're there better than the day you weren't.

The real intel

Best months
May–Oct. June and September are its best months.
Getting there
West of Albufeira, past Galé. Free parking, short boardwalk.
Where to stay
Galé or Sesmarias. Quiet end of the Albufeira market.
Cost reality
Sunbeds €15/day. Beach bar €15–25/pp. Free to towel.
The catch nobody tells you
Small. At high tide in peak summer it gets tight. And the "castle" rock is... a rock. Bring imagination.

The crowd

Quieter than its neighbors. Couples, families who drove past the bigger beaches. Rarely mobbed.

The receipts

The wooden boardwalk is weathering — watch for soft boards after rain. The cliff path east to neighbouring beaches is unofficial and crumbly.
