The count
How many beaches are there?
Everyone asks; nobody counts. We count. 7,418 named beaches surveyed so far across 11 countries — real OpenStreetMap geometry, not vibes. These are the mapped, verifiable floors; the true numbers are higher, and the survey grows.

Method: named `natural=beach` polygons ≥1,500 m², OpenStreetMap (ODbL), deduplicated. Fun fact for the comments: Australia’s coastal-science census counts 10,685 — our survey only includes the mapped ones. Somebody map the rest.
